Ananthan is involved in litigation matters at all levels of the Courts in Malaysia including matters involving alternative dispute resolution. His main areas of practice primarily involve land law and company law.
With a particular emphasis on land acquisition matters, he regularly acts for one of the largest utility companies in Peninsular Malaysia as well as the country’s leading developer for urban rail transport infrastructure.
His recent reported cases include a Federal Court matter involving the rights of interested persons in land reference proceedings (Spicon Products Sdn Bhd v. Tenaga Nasional Bhd & Anor [2022] 2 MLJ 721) and a Court of Appeal case relating to the application of the chain of executorship in grant of probate matters (Woo Wei Liang v. Liang Dinghui [2022] 1 LNS 1779).
Outside of his areas of practice, he has a keen interest in securities law / capital markets and hopes to one day expand into the areas of cryptocurrency mining and trading regulations. In his free time, Ananthan is an ardent football and basketball enthusiast (both as a fan and as a player).
